Jharkhand police propose a quick action squad
The state police have proposed raising a quick action squad on the lines of Mumbai’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS). The move follows growing apprehension that Maoists would target urban pockets and important installations and in Union minister P. Chidambaram’s appeal to the states to go in for a specialized squad to avert designs by terrorist outfits to disrupt peace. Additional director general of police (CID), Gourishankar Rath, said that a proposal in this regard has been submitted to the home department for clearance.
