Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi was started in 1955 with the objective of training men and
women in social work, and later on to prepare professionals for business management. It was registered
as a Society in 1973-74.

The following two-year diploma courses are run presently by the Institute :-
(a) Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management - Recognized by AICTE
(b) Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development - Recognized by AICTE
(c) Post Graduate Diploma in MBA with specialization in Information Management - Recognition awaited
