Jamshedpur, September 10, 2026: Tata Steel secured the Runners-up position at the SPSB Inter-Steel Plant Chess Championship 2026, held at Burnpur, IISCO. Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) emerged as the winners of the championship.

The championship witnessed participation from 10 Steel Plants — RSP, Tata Steel, RINL, ISP, BSL, BSP, DSP, JSW, SSP and VISL — competing against each other over six rounds.

The event was graced by Bipin Kumar Singh, ED (Works), IISCO, as the Chief Guest. Jitendra Kumar, CGM (HR), and Prodipta Banerjee, GM (Town Services), attended the championship as Guests of Honour.

The Tata Steel Chess team put up a strong performance throughout the championship. The proud members of the team were Sanjay Swain, Ranjeet Singh, Kaushal Kumar Jha, Natabar Sahoo and Adarsh Kumar. The team was managed by Prakash Mahato.
