Tata Main Hospital Launches Dedicated Obesity Clinic

Jamshedpur, July 31, 2026: Obesity is becoming one of the biggest health challenges worldwide, affecting millions of people across all age groups. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately one in eight people globally are living with obesity, with the number exceeding one billion. The prevalence of obesity has nearly tripled since 1975, largely due to changing lifestyles and dietary habits.

Obesity is not merely about being overweight. It is a serious health condition that increases the risk of several diseases, including hypertension, diabetes, heart ailments, joint problems, sleep apnoea and mental health issues. Regular health check-ups to monitor weight and counselling for lifestyle modification can play an important role in preventing obesity-related complications and promoting overall well-being.

With this objective, Tata Main Hospital (TMH) is pleased to announce the launch of its Obesity Clinic, which will be functional from August 1, 2026, every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Diabetes Care Centre.

The clinic will offer comprehensive evaluation and management of obesity, including lifestyle counselling and medical therapy, wherever required.

As appointment booking for the Obesity Clinic has not yet been incorporated into the online appointment system, patients seeking consultation may visit the clinic directly during the designated hours. The clinic team will facilitate their registration and appointment until the online booking facility becomes operational.
