Kerala Samajam Model School Organises Enriching *Workshop on Physics & UAV Technology
Kerala Samajam Model School (KSMS), Jamshedpur,* organised an engaging and enriching workshop on *“Physics and UAV – Innovate, Automate, Fly” at the school auditorium.
The workshop was jointly organised by the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) and the Dept. of Physics, with the objective of providing students with meaningful exposure to contemporary science and emerging technologies.
The workshop was conducted by a distinguished *team of Professors and Researchers from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, Kolkata,* offering students an opportunity to experience science beyond conventional classroom learning.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the gathering, followed by a reflective opening segment featuring the words of renowned scientist *Carl Sagan* to set the tone for the workshop.
The *Welcome Address* was delivered by *the school Principal, Madam Rina Banerjee,* who welcomed the distinguished Resource Persons and highlighted the importance of providing students with opportunities to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.
The *first half* of the workshop *focused on Physics,* taking students beyond textbook concepts and demonstrating how fundamental principles of matter, energy, light and forces form the foundation of modern technology and engineering. The interactive session encouraged students to look at Physics not merely as an academic subject but as a powerful tool for understanding, designing and innovating.
The *second half* of the programme introduced students to the *fascinating world of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and drone technology.* The Resource Persons explained the fundamental principles behind drone flight, stability, control and applications. Students were also introduced to the growing role of UAVs in areas such as agriculture, surveying, disaster management, scientific research and other real-world applications.
*A major attraction of the workshop was the live drone-flying demonstration,* which enabled students to observe the principles of aerial technology in action.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of std. 7 to 12 and Teachers. The sessions successfully created an environment of curiosity, questioning and experiential learning, reinforcing the school's commitment in developing a scientific mindset, creativity, innovation and problem-solving abilities among students.
The programme concluded with remarks encouraging students to go beyond simply seeking answers and to develop the habit of asking meaningful questions, exploring possibilities and transforming ideas into practical innovations.
The school expressed its sincere gratitude to the Resource Persons from IIEST, Shibpur, for sharing their expertise and making the workshop a highly engaging, informative and inspiring learning experience. The school also acknowledged the support of its Principal, Teachers, Volunteers and students whose collective efforts contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.
*The workshop stands as another significant step towards the school's vision of creating opportunities where students can Learn, Explore, Innovate and Build, while connecting classroom learning with the rapidly evolving world of science and technology.*
