Manipal Tata Medical College Welcomes New Postgraduate Allied Health Sciences Students
Jamshedpur, August 17, 2026: The Department of Allied Health Sciences at Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC), Jamshedpur, organised a postgraduate orientation program to welcome its incoming students for the academic year 2026–27.
The program marked the beginning of a new academic and professional journey for the students at MTMC, an off-campus institute of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), an Institution of Eminence deemed-to-be university.
The event commenced with a floral tribute to Dr. T. M. A. Pai, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolising the pursuit of knowledge, wisdom and excellence.
Mr. Palukuri Yashwanth Kumar, Head, Department of Allied Health Sciences, welcomed the gathering and encouraged the students to uphold the values of professionalism, compassion, ethical practice and lifelong learning. He also emphasised the importance of developing clinical competence, critical-thinking abilities and a strong commitment to patient-centred care.
The program was graced by Prof. Rajiva Dwivedi, Director—Academic Administration and Quality, MTMC, and Dr. Vinay A. V., Associate Dean, MTMC. In their addresses, they encouraged the students to pursue academic excellence while remaining mindful of their ethical and professional responsibilities as future healthcare professionals.
The program also featured sessions by distinguished guest speakers:
• Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Scientist C, ICMR Headquarters, New Delhi
• Mr. Mohit Pandey, Associate Professor, Department of Radiology, GMCH, Goa
The guest speakers highlighted the importance of clinical excellence, ethical practice, empathy and professionalism in healthcare. They encouraged the students to cultivate scientific curiosity, develop critical-thinking skills and adopt evidence-based approaches in clinical practice.They emphasised that research is not merely an academic requirement, but a powerful means of identifying healthcare challenges, generating new knowledge, developing innovative solutions and improving patient outcomes.
Informative sessions were conducted on key aspects of postgraduate student life, including academics, examinations, clinical training, research opportunities, dissertation requirements, hostel facilities, extracurricular activities and the various academic and student-support services available on campus.
The orientation program provided the incoming students with an overview of the academic environment and the opportunities available at MTMC. It also reinforced the institution’s commitment to nurturing competent, compassionate, research-oriented and ethically responsible, allied health professionals.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem.
