Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Inaugurates Rain Water Harvesting Project at Kasidih High School
Jamshedpur, June 25: Reinforcing its commitment towards environmental sustainability and water conservation, the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur inaugurated a Rain Water Harvesting System at Kasidih High School, Sakchi on Thursday. The project was inaugurated by Past District Governor (PDG) Rtn. Ronald D'Costa in the presence of members of the Rotary Club, school management, teachers and students.
The rainwater harvesting system comprises a covered recharge pit with an approximate capacity of 25 cubic metres and a network of pipelines connecting the terraces of all the school buildings to channel rainwater into the recharge structure. The project is expected to help replenish groundwater while serving as a practical model of sustainable water management for students.
Speaking on the occasion, PDG Rtn. Ronald D'Costa highlighted the growing importance of water conservation and urged students to become responsible custodians of this precious natural resource. He also conducted an informative session on the significance of rainwater harvesting, encouraging students to adopt environmentally responsible practices in their daily lives.
To ensure the long-term sustainability of the project, a Rain Water Harvesting Maintenance Committee comprising representatives from the school management, teachers, the School President and student members was constituted. The committee will oversee the regular maintenance, monitoring and upkeep of the system.
The project was executed by the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur as part of its continued efforts towards sustainable community development and environmental conservation. Through such initiatives, the Club aims not only to create lasting infrastructure but also to inspire awareness and responsibility among the younger generation.
