Jamshedpur, 14 August 2026: CSIR–National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML), Jamshedpur, organized a One-Day Student Visit Programme under the CSIR-JIGYASA initiative for the students of  Xavier School, Jamshedpur on 14th August, 2026. The programme was conducted at CSIR-NML with the objective of promoting scientific temper and creating awareness about research and innovation among school students.

A total of 47 students (23 boys and 24 girls) along with 2 faculty members participated in the programme. The event commenced with registration followed by an inaugural address by Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director, CSIR-NML, who encouraged the students to cultivate curiosity and scientific thinking. He also briefed the students regarding the activities conducted at CSIR-NML. A group photograph was taken to mark the occasion.

The participants were welcomed by Dr. K. Gopala Krishna, Sct. G and Head, IMDC, who elaborated on the evolution of engineering materials over the years and emphasized, with illustrative examples, the importance of developing advanced materials with customized properties to meet emerging technological demands and future societal challenges.

Subsequently, Dr. Animesh Jana, Senior Sct. and PL of JIGYASA, briefed the students about the CSIR-JIGYASA programme, emphasizing its objective of connecting school students with scientific institutions and inspiring them to pursue careers in science and technology.

An important highlight of the programme was the laboratory visits, where students were exposed to state-of-the-art research facilities and ongoing scientific activities at CSIR-NML. The students visited laboratories associated with CREEP studies, Advanced Analytical Characterization (AAC), E-waste Recycling, and Melting Demonstration facilities. Scientists and technical staff interacted with the students, explaining the principles, applications, and societal relevance of the research being undertaken in these laboratories.

The interactive sessions enabled students to gain first-hand knowledge of scientific instruments, experimental techniques, sustainable technologies, and materials research. The programme concluded with an enthusiastic feedback from students and teachers, who appreciated the opportunity to interact with scientists and experience research activities beyond the classroom. Such initiatives under CSIR-JIGYASA play a vital role in nurturing young minds, fostering scientific curiosity, and motivating future generations to contribute to science and innovation.

*सीएसआईआर-एनएमएल में सीएसआईआर-जिज्ञासा पहल के अंतर्गत एक दिवसीय छात्र भ्रमण कार्यक्रम आयोजित*

जमशेदपुर, 14 अगस्त 2026: सीएसआईआर–राष्ट्रीय धातुकर्म प्रयोगशाला (सीएसआईआर-एनएमएल), जमशेदपुर द्वारा सीएसआईआर-जिज्ञासा पहल के अंतर्गत जेवियर स्कूल, जमशेदपुर के विद्यार्थियों के लिए एक दिवसीय छात्र भ्रमण कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया गया। कार्यक्रम का उद्देश्य विद्यार्थियों में वैज्ञानिक दृष्टिकोण विकसित करना तथा अनुसंधान एवं नवाचार के प्रति जागरूकता बढ़ाना था।

इस कार्यक्रम में 47 विद्यार्थियों (23 लड़के एवं 24 लड़कियाँ) तथा 2 शिक्षकों ने भाग लिया। कार्यक्रम का उद्घाटन डॉ. संदीप घोष चौधरी, निदेशक, सीएसआईआर-एनएमएल के प्रेरणादायक संबोधन से हुआ। उन्होंने विद्यार्थियों को जिज्ञासु एवं वैज्ञानिक सोच विकसित करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया तथा सीएसआईआर-एनएमएल की विभिन्न गतिविधियों से परिचित कराया।

डॉ. के. गोपाला कृष्णा ने इंजीनियरिंग सामग्रियों के क्रमिक विकास की चर्चा करते हुए विभिन्न उदाहरणों के माध्यम से बताया कि भविष्य की चुनौतियों तथा उभरती तकनीकी आवश्यकताओं को पूरा करने के लिए विशेष गुणों से युक्त उन्नत सामग्रियों का विकास अत्यंत आवश्यक है।। इसके पश्चात डॉ. अनिमेष जना, वरिष्ठ वैज्ञानिक एवं जिज्ञासा कार्यक्रम प्रमुख ने विद्यार्थियों को सीएसआईआर-जिज्ञासा कार्यक्रम की जानकारी दी और विज्ञान एवं प्रौद्योगिकी के क्षेत्र में करियर बनाने के लिए प्रेरित किया।

कार्यक्रम के अंतर्गत विद्यार्थियों ने क्रीप अध्ययन, एडवांस्ड एनालिटिकल कैरेक्टराइजेशन, ई-वेस्ट रीसाइक्लिंग तथा मेल्टिंग डेमोंस्ट्रेशन प्रयोगशालाओं का भ्रमण किया। वैज्ञानिकों एवं तकनीकी विशेषज्ञों ने उन्हें आधुनिक शोध उपकरणों, प्रयोगात्मक तकनीकों तथा उनके व्यावहारिक उपयोगों के बारे में जानकारी दी।

कार्यक्रम के अंत में विद्यार्थियों एवं शिक्षकों ने अपने उत्साहपूर्ण अनुभव साझा किए और इस अवसर की सराहना की। सीएसआईआर-जिज्ञासा जैसी पहलें युवाओं में वैज्ञानिक जिज्ञासा को बढ़ावा देने तथा उन्हें विज्ञान एवं नवाचार के क्षेत्र में आगे बढ़ने के लिए प्रेरित करने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाती हैं।
