National Sports Day & Dorabji Tata Birthday Celebration Chess Tournament 2026 at JRD Tata Sports Complex

Jamshedpur, August 29, 2026:

Tata Steel Sports Department and East Singhbhum District Chess Association conducted Chess tournaments for age groups of under -8 and 10 for girls and boys to commemorate National Sports Day Celebration & Dorabji Tata Birthday at JRD Tata Sports Complex today.

Opening ceremony was graced by Mr Anurakta Swain, Area manager Tata Steel Sports Department,Odisha and Balbir Singh Sohail former secretary, ESDCA. Total participation 36  Boys and Girls with two age groups Under-08 and U-10.

Closing ceremony chief guests  Mr. Shuvam Nayak, Mr. Sanjay Mishra , tournament director Jayant Kumar Bhuyan secretary of ESDCA and chief Arbiter IA Vishal Kumar Minz and SNA Soukhin Kundu chess coach Tata training centre

The event aims to promote chess among young players and provide a competitive platform for chess enthusiasts from Tata Chess Centre, East Singhbhum and neighbouring areas.

The organisers had invited chess players, parents, schools, institutions and sports lovers to participate in and support the celebration.
