West Bokaro, August 26, 2026: Tata Steel’s Raw Materials Division, in collaboration with the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) and the Union, organised a Tripartite Safety Committee Meeting today at Chanakya BNR Hotel, Ranchi. The meeting covered four divisions of the Raw Materials Division: West Bokaro Division, Jharia Division, OMQ Division, and FAMD.

The meeting was chaired by Shri Ujjwal Tah, Director General of Mines Safety, DGMS, in the presence of Shri R T Mandekar, Deputy Director General (Central Zone, Dhanbad); and Shri Shyam Sundar Prasad, Deputy Director General (South Eastern Zone, Ranchi), DGMS; Narendra Kumar Gupta, General Manager, Jharia Division; Sushanta Kumar Mishra, Executive-in-Charge, FAMD; Debashis Jena, General Manager, OMQ Division; Mukesh Ranjan, General Manager, West Bokaro Division; Neeraj Sinha, Chief, Safety (India & South East Asia); and Agam Kumar, Chief, Safety (Raw Materials), Tata Steel.

The programme commenced with a safety briefing and ceremonial inauguration, including the National Song, DGMS Theme Song, and lighting of the inaugural lamp. This was followed by the welcome address, context setting, selection of the Chairperson, and a one-minute silence in memory of those who lost their lives in industrial accidents. The action taken on recommendations from previous Tripartite Safety Committee meetings across West Bokaro, OMQ, FAMD, and Jharia were discussed. The meeting underscored several key focus areas in mining, including advancing our zero-harm culture, adoting new technologies, strengthening diversity, equity and inclusion, promoting green mining and sustainability, and adopting the Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSH) Code, 2020, and Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (Central) Rules, 2026. Union representatives, DGMS officials and vendor partners shared their views, followed by observations from senior DGMS officials. The way forward was outlined by Sandeep Kumar, followed by valedictory remarks by Shri Ujjwal Tah. The programme concluded with national anthem.

Around 180 participants, including senior officials from Tata Steel and DGMS, union representatives, vendor partners, and company executives, attended the programme.

The Tripartite Committee Meeting serves as a platform for Tata Steel, DGMS and union members to share their views and suggestions on strengthening workplace safety and fostering a productive working environment.Tata Steel remains committed to promoting the welfare and safety of its employees and values the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue with its stakeholders.
