Jamshedpur to Host Its First-Ever ‘Swachh Gated Society Championship 2026’
Jamshedpur, October 01, 2026
With an aim to strengthen public participation in the city’s cleanliness efforts and actively engage citizens in cleanliness and environmental conservation, Tata Steel UISL is organising Jamshedpur’s first-ever ‘Swachh Gated Society Championship 2026’. Inspired by the Swachh Bharat Mission, the initiative seeks to build a stronger culture of cleanliness and responsible waste management across gated communities in the city.
In the first phase of the Championship, more than 60 gated societies will participate, reaching nearly 12,900 households through cleanliness and awareness initiatives. The competition will be conducted over a period of approximately 3–4 months, during which participating societies will undertake a range of activities focused on cleanliness, waste management and environmental conservation within their premises.
The Championship will be evaluated on a total of 1,000 points across defined parameters. Source Segregation and Responsible Waste Management will carry 350 points, Visible Cleanliness of Common Areas 100 points, and Sustainability through Water and Energy Efficiency 100 points. Other parameters will include Home Composting, Plastic-Free Living, Zero Waste Events and Celebrations, Citizen Participation and Community Engagement, Dengue Awareness and Source Reduction, Green Society and Plantation Drives, and Waste-to-Art and Community Beautification.
Through this initiative, citizens will not only participate in cleanliness activities but also become active stakeholders in creating positive and sustainable change within their communities. From segregation of waste at source to environmental conservation at the community level, the campaign will encourage responsible and sustainable practices.
The initiative is inspired by the vision of Atul Kumar Bhatnagar, MD, Tata Steel UISL, for a clean, sustainable and citizen-centric city.
Tata Steel UISL appeals to all participating societies and citizens to actively contribute to this initiative and collectively work towards making Jamshedpur a cleaner, greener and more sustainable city.
Clean Jamshedpur, Swachh Jamshedpur Responsible Citizens, Responsible City.
