As part of the initiative to promote 21st Century Skills in students by the Tata Education Excellence Programme (TEEP 2.0) and, in collaboration with the Tata Steel Foundation (TSF), Kerala Samajam Model School (KSMS) successfully hosted a ‘Johaar Haat for Schools’, a workshop on "Social & Cross-Cultural Skills" on 20th and 21st August 2026 at the KSMS Auditorium.
More than 100 school students from 20 schools were introduced to Jharkhand's rich cultural heritage through engaging and interactive sessions by Tribal Artisanal Experts across the two days.
The highlight of the programme was an immersive session on Sohrai Art, the traditional wall and floor art form of Jharkhand. The resource person shared insights into its tribal origins, symbolic motifs, use of natural colours, and the significance of animals in harvest celebrations.
Students interacted with local artisans and practitioners, to understand various aspects of Jharkhand's cultural legacy through special stalls featuring:
· Traditional & healthy cuisine of Jharkhand
· Art & Craft products created using natural & sustainable material
· Ancient Healing Practices and Indigenous Medicines, explained through traditional herbs and tribal knowledge passed down through generations
These interactions helped them experience Jharkhand’s living cultural heritage directly from its practitioners .
