Jamshedpur, August 8: The Department of Mathematics, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur, successfully organised a week-long Teacher’s Enrichment Workshop (TEW–LADIC 2026) on Linear Algebra, Differential & Integral Calculus from August 3 to 8, 2026. The workshop was sponsored by the National Centre for Mathematics (NCM), a joint centre of IIT Bombay and TIFR Mumbai.

More than 50 participants from different parts of the country attended the workshop. Teachers and participants from Chennai, West Bengal and other regions took part in the programme and received academic training from experts on important topics in mathematics.

During the workshop, Prof. Pralay Chatterjee, Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc), Chennai, and Mr. Y. Srinivas Rao, NIT Warangal, delivered lectures and conducted sessions on various topics. The participants were introduced to important concepts of Linear Algebra and Differential and Integral Calculus, along with different aspects of effective teaching of these subjects.

Prof. Pralay Chatterjee, Dr. Shakti Prasad and Dr. Y. Ramu Naidu played a significant role in organising the programme and served as the organisers of the workshop.

The valedictory ceremony was held on August 8, 2026, at Room No. 212, DJLHC, NIT Jamshedpur. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Goutam Sutradhar, Director, NIT Jamshedpur, Prof. R. V. Sharma, Deputy Director, and Dr. Ratnesh Kumar Mishra, Head (I/C), Department of Mathematics. Dr. Rajat Tripathi, along with other faculty members and workshop participants, was also present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Goutam Sutradhar congratulated the Department of Mathematics and the organising team for successfully conducting the workshop. He emphasised the importance of continuous academic development of teachers for ensuring quality education in higher learning institutions. He said that such Teacher’s Enrichment Programmes provide an important platform for teachers to update their knowledge, learn new approaches and adopt effective teaching methodologies.

Prof. Sutradhar further highlighted the importance of a strong understanding of fundamental subjects such as Linear Algebra and Differential and Integral Calculus in developing students’ mathematical and analytical abilities. He encouraged the participants to share and implement the knowledge and experience gained during the workshop in their respective institutions.

Certificates were distributed to the participants during the valedictory ceremony. The participants appreciated the workshop as an enriching and academically valuable experience and expressed their gratitude to the experts and organising team.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Y. Ramu Naidu, followed by the National Anthem and a group photograph.
